Farmhouse Remodel – A Culinary and Family-Centered Transformation
Project Overview
For this farmhouse remodel, we worked closely with a family of seven to reimagine a home that could meet the demands of daily life on a working farm—while creating beautiful, functional spaces designed for cooking, gathering, and growing together.
From a high-performance kitchen for two skilled home chefs to a thoughtfully engineered bath and family-friendly utility areas, every element was updated with care and intention.
Kitchen: A True Chef’s Kitchen
Both homeowners are accomplished cooks, and the kitchen needed to be more than just functional—it had to perform. We completely redesigned the layout to better suit their workflow and the existing footprint of the home. All appliances were upgraded and relocated, with new dedicated circuits installed for power-hungry elements like the refrigerator and microwave drawers.
We also framed in a new pantry with a custom arched passthrough, creating a space to prep and store the fruits and vegetables grown right on the farm. The result is a kitchen that blends utility and elegance—perfect for feeding a family of seven or hosting a crowd.
Bathroom: Clever Engineering, Seamless Design
The existing bathroom layout didn’t make the best use of space, so we gutted it completely to build a new footprint that could accommodate both a soaking tub and a spacious shower.
The original framing didn’t allow for a curbless shower at floor level. Instead of compromising, we built a raised platform that could be individually waterproofed for both tub and shower, maintaining the curbless look and functionality. A dramatic, full-height glass panel was installed between the two zones—floor to ceiling—with a seamless transition. It took four crew members to set the custom glass into place, and the final result is both elegant and durable.
Flooring: Cohesive, Durable Surfaces
New flooring was installed throughout the entire house, tying all the spaces together and providing durable, family-friendly surfaces that can handle the wear and tear of daily farm life.
Laundry Room: Creative Repurposing
We converted the home’s garage into a spacious laundry and craft room. To make the most of the budget, we repurposed the home’s original kitchen cabinets—giving them a second life as functional storage for laundry supplies and art materials. The result is a practical, multi-use space that serves the whole family.
Exterior: New Fence for Everyday Life
To finish the project, we installed a new perimeter fence around the main area of the house, giving the kids a safe place to roam and helping keep the day-to-day rhythms of farm life organized and contained.
This remodel blends thoughtful design with hard-working practicality—exactly what’s needed for a large, active family building their life on a farm.
